Starting at 9.30pm on Friday with a bat walk and continuing from 8am Saturday; please join us as we identify as many different species as we can. Drop in at any time, no need to book.

Light refreshments available. Outdoor clothing essential, and bring a torch for the evening sessions.

 

We will meet at the church building entrance. There is ample parking in designated bays, and following filling these, we will line cars up along the drive.

 

FRIDAY 14TH JUNE
21.30Bats – Join us for a walk around the churchyard with an expert using a bat detector. Outdoor clothing and torches essential.

 

SATURDAY 15TH JUNE
08:00Birds – A walk around the churchyard looking for birds and learning to identify them by song.

 

09:00 – 11:00Moths – We will set a moth trap up overnight and will be opening it to see what has flown in.

 

10:00Small animals – We will be searching for frogs, toads and newts as well as any reptiles such as slow worms. In addition, we will be setting up humane traps the night before and will be checking these to free any prisoners!

 

11:00Wildflowers and grasses – Join our botanists surveying the churchyard for wildflowers and learn how to identify different species.

 

11.00Trees – An expert from the Woodland Trust will be showing us the many specimen trees in this beautiful churchyard.

 

12:00Bumblebees – Churchyards can be fantastic places for pollinators. Discover what’s buzzing in this one.

 

13:00Bugs and Fungi – There’s lots of things to be found in damp dark corners. We’ll be overturning stones and logs and seeing what can be found.

 

14:00Bugs – Trees and grassland are full of little creatures too. We’ll have some nets and pots so you can try and catch some.

16:00What have we found? – Enjoy a cup of tea while we show you all the things we’ve found. Learn how to make a biological record so you can try this at home!

20:00Birds – Close the day with the lovely sounds of the dusk chorus.
