Volunteer

You can help support our work by becoming a member, donating, or giving your time as a volunteer. There are a few ways to be involved as a volunteer.

Recording wildlife

Your observations of plants and animals in churchyards, cemeteries, and other burial grounds are invaluable. Record the species you encounter and add them to a public database accessible to all. Your records will shed light on which species are thriving and which may need support, helping the dedicated people who care for these places make well-informed management decisions. We’ve established a project on the iNaturalist app. Visit the link provided to learn how to participate.

Spreading the Word

We receive many requests to talk to small groups all over the country. However, due to distance, we are often unable to accept. If you are interested in giving a talk in your area, to help spread the word about burial ground conservation, we would love to hear from you!
We have a pre-prepared presentation with notes, along with useful literature that we can send you.

Local to the Marches

We have volunteering opportunities across the Marches area – Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys.
If you like the idea of working with a lively group of people, in some beautiful sites, then you may be interested in joining our Churchyard Task Team.

Task days take place every Tuesday and Thursday (sometimes other days). For more information, and to view the current programme, visit here.
