Job Vacancy

*closing date has now passed
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed team member to drive our exciting new project – Opening the Ark, funded by Defra via the Green Recovery Challenge Fund which is administered by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This project will see the fantastic biodiversity found within burial grounds such as churchyards and cemeteries spreading back out into our towns, villages, verges, gardens and school grounds. You will be working closely with communities, engaging and supporting volunteers and organising innovative activities and events across 26 communities in the stunning Shropshire Hills area.

This is a full time fixed term contract (until end of March 2023).
Main Purpose of the post

The project is aimed at increasing and dispersing the rich biodiversity found in churchyards and cemeteries out into the locality through engaging with community volunteers. We have identified 26 specific communities with burial grounds (churchyards) in and around the Shropshire Hills AONB to participate in this project. The post holder will engage with these communities, and work with them to increase biodiversity within burial grounds and to radiate that biodiversity out into the wider community. The post holder will plan, organise, manage and deliver a programme of activities and public facing events with a specific focus on nature-based volunteer involvement and participation. These activities will usually take place within burial grounds and surrounding communities. Some events may be in other locations but will provide a strong link to core locations.
